Frequently Asked Questions
Q.Why does my pedal seems loose and won't stay in the up position when I play? A. You can adjust the rocker tension on your pedal by using an allen wrench. There is a nut on the heel of the pedal. Simply turn it to the right to tighten it or turn it to the left to loosen it.
Q. Why does my pedal sound scratchy? A. It is possible that your pedals potentiometer may have some dirt or debris in it. Unlike other pedals your pot can be cleaned by using a lubricant such as Radio Shack #64-4315 or stabilant. Over a period of years it may become necessary to replace the pot. I also have replacements available.
Q. My wah doesn't seem to engage easily or it engages too easily. How do I fix this? A. Your wah has an adjustable switch that can be lowered or raised depending on the players preference. Simply loosen the nut on the top of the switch then give the nut on the inside of the pedal a turn. Not too much though because a quarter to a half of a turn will raise or lower it substantially. Raising your switch too much could cause the switch to become partially engaged. When this happens you will notice a buzzing noise when engaging your pedal. Please make sure this is not the case before contacting me about any problems.
Q.What type of power supply does your wah take? A. We use Boss style 2.1mm negative center power jacks 9vdc.
Q. There is a nasty hum that my pedal seems to be making when I use it with a power supply. How do I fix this? A. When using an external power supply always make sure that you are using a high quality regulated power supply. When using cheap unregulated power supplies your pedal can pickup the EMI (electro-magnetic interference) that these supplies tend to emit. So always use a high quality power supply. This is a common problem with the wah circuit itself.
Q. When I turn my pedal on there seems to be a slight drop in the volume, especially on the clean channel of my amp. What's wrong? A. Your pedal has a volume trimmer on the output buffer. Make sure that you don't have it turned down too much. This feature allows you to control the output of the pedal.
Q. I use a fuzz foot or face can your pedal be used ahead of them and still cut through the signal? A. Yes every Wilson Effects wah comes standard with an output buffer so there is no need to worry about the placement of your wah in your effects chain.
Q. Are your pedals true bypass? A. Yes all of my pedals are true bypass using only the highest quality switches.
Q. Are my switch and potentiometer covered by the one year warranty? A. No the switch and pot are friction based components and due to wear and tear may go bad over time. However they do have a warranty for the first thirty days you have your pedal just in case it could be a factory flawed part. I do sell replacement switches and pots for your pedal. I don't advertise them on the site because I'm not a parts dealer so if you find yourself needing a replacement just email me and I can get you one at a very reasonable cost.
Q. If I choose to replace my pot or switch myself does this void my warranty? A. No. If you find that you need to do one of the above tasks you do not have to send your pedal back to me to do the repair. If however you need any assistance I would be happy to help out through email.
Q. If my pedal needs repaired can I take it to someone else or try to repair it myself under warranty A. If you find that you are having problems with your pedal you can send it back to me and I will be happy to do the warranty work on your pedal. However if you or anyone else attempt to mod or repair it you may in fact void your warranty. If you've bought your pedal from a dealer make sure that you send a copy of the original receipt because I do not have records of your transactions with my dealers.
Q. I spilled some liquid on my pedal or I dropped my pedal and broke it, or I plugged my pedal into the wrong power supply and it no longer works. Is this covered under warranty? A. No only the manufacturers parts and labor are covered. I will however be happy to look at it and get it back to working condition for a reasonable price.
Q. My pedal is no longer under warranty and something is wrong with it. Can you fix it? A. If your pedal is no longer under warranty I can still do the repairs for a reasonable cost.
Q. How do I send my pedal to you? A. Email me for the proper instructions.
